Bush’s approval rating drops

Wednesday April 27 2005 10:57:08 AM BDT

WASHINGTON, Apr 26: US President George W. Bush’s approval rating has dropped to 47 percent, an eight-month low, while a majority of Americans say the war in Iraq was not worth fighting, according to a poll released Monday, reports AFP.

Bush’s popularity has reached its lowest point since August, with 64 percent of Americans disapproving his handling of Social Security and only 40 percent approving his work on the economy, according to the ABC News/Washington Post poll.

The rise in gas prices at the pump has hit Americans’ pocketbooks, as 64 percent say it has caused financial hardship in their household, tying the record in polls since 2000.

Three in 10 blame the Bush administration for the price hikes, while one-in-four say it is the US oil companies’ fault and another quarter blame other oil-producing countries.
