We hope there would be some forward movement soon," Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Hemayetuddin told journalists in the city Sunday, reports BDNEWS.
He was talking to the newsmen on his return from Beijing after attending the eighth Annual Foreign Office Consultations between the two countries.
Diplomatic sources said the foreign secretary would visit Myanmar next month to have talks with Myanmar at official level. Both China and Bangladesh would try to convince Myanmar to have the link, sources added.
On the bilateral consultations, Hemayetuddin said Dhaka has requested Beijing to provide duty-free access for all Bangladeshi products to its market with a view to reducing huge trade gap.
"Earlier, they have agreed to provide duty-free access to 84 items according to Beijing declaration. But we told them to make it for all our products...they have listened," he said.
Bangladesh has also requested China to increase the volume of purchase of Bangladeshi products by the Chinese Purchase Team.
