Wednesday August 26 2009 21:49:02 PM BDT

By Anwarul Islam Mukul, USA

I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of Senator Edward Kennedy. As a nation and as a people, we have lost one of the finest, most dedicated, and committed political leaders of our time .The Bangladeshi community has lost a great leader. While liberation war started in East Pakistan Senator Kennedy's supported for the Bengalis' fight against Pakistan's "When criticizing President Nixon for supporting Pakistan, Bengalis invariably mention Kennedy as the example to prove that the American people sympathize with their cause," according to the piece written on Jan 09, 2007.

He traveled to refugee camps throughout West Bengal on Aug 11, 1971, where some 9,000,000 refugees streamed across the border. He reported back to the Senate in an extraordinarily passionate document about the plight of the refugees in India and what he called the "reign of terror which grips East Bengal

The loss of Senator Ted Kennedy is a sad event for America,It is a sad day for American liberalism. He offered the kind of confidence and enthusiasm about liberal values.

Let us pray for our friend Kennedy and his whole family. May GOD grant his soul peace and bless his family. Ameen

On behalf of the Bangladeshi community in North Carolina , I extend my condolences to his family and loved ones.”
