Re:Myanmar Shouldn't lead the Rohingyas to secession -Comment

Friday August 31 2012 14:39:01 PM BDT

By Ziush Shams, Bangladesh

Thanks for your very constructive article. But your mild language will not convince General Thien Sien and others for a few of these rogue generals have converted Burma into their personal estates. And an independent state of Arakan like East Timur will not materialize as Rohingyas are not Christians. My hunch is that something like 'Arab Spring' will occur in Burma very soon and the different minority groups fighting for independence will come together to liberate Burma from the clutches of the cruel Generals. China is the key. Once she becomes less warm towards the present illegal military administration, things will start to move for the better. Rohingyas need a leader who will be able to convince the non-muslim population of the Arakan region that they will be better off economically and socially once they get rid of the military mercenaries who are anything but civilized. Bangladesh should stay away from these wrangles and give the oppressed people of Burma moral support only.
