Indian BSF Killing

Sunday September 16 2012 21:36:38 PM BDT

By Ziaush Shams, Bangladesh

Re:Bangladeshi shot by Indian BSF along C’nawabganj border-BSF members from Shuvapur Camp opened fire on a group of Bangladeshi nationals while they were moving around the bordering area at about 12:05 am

May we remind the author of this article that BSF is doing this cruel acts despite the sincere attempts made by the Indian Home Ministry high officials recently to reduce these inhumane incidences to zero. One reason could be the very precarious situations of the present coalition government at the Centre and the opposition's wrath towards Dr. Manmohan Singh. BSF is also probably getting unofficial backing from BJP and other Hiduvta parties to continue these activities.

Given the situation we should take pro- active measures to save invaluable lives of our citizens living in the border areas.

First, we should band smuggling of Indian cows and take stringent measures against the smugglers. Second, cows will be imported only through official channels. Three, cow-farms should be established in the border areas providing generous loan at les than 10% interest. This should minimize demand for imported cows and improve level of income of border people refraining them from getting involved in smuggling activities. Our BGB should identify the main routes of smuggling and prepare a list of smugglers and conduct awareness program among them and tell them about the futility of this nefarious activities and the negative effects these activities have on our economy and how it fattens the purse of Indian smugglers and BSF personnel. We must get rid of this loss-loss situation and create a enabling environment for productive engagements in the border areas ,particularly in the cow smuggling spots.
