Monday October 01 2012 00:36:12 AM BDT

Chapainawabganj, Sept 30 (UNB) – A Bangladeshi cattle trader was reportedly tortured to death by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Singhnagar border in Shibganj upazila on Sunday.(File Photo)

The victim was identified as Hannan, 25, son of Tabjun Ali, of Tola village in the upazila.

Major Abu Nayim Khandaker of 9-battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh said BSF troops from Doulatpur outpost caught Hannan at about 4am when he entered India through Singhnagar border near pillar No 172 to buy cattle from the neighbouring country.

Later, they took him to their camp and tortured him for two hours, leaving him cortically injured.

As his condition was deteriorating fast, the BSF men left him along the border area around 6am.

Local people rescued and took him to Shibganj upazila health complex in the morning. He succumbed to his injures at about 4pm.
